It reached 81 degrees here in St. Augustine today, and so I couldn’t resist getting out for a walk. I am getting quite good at it, walking that is. That may sound funny, but even though my accident happened three years ago I’m still developing. Of course, a physiotherapist would help, but the one I initially had was of no use at all.
But back to my walk. I’m fortunate to be staying right opposite one of the most beautiful parks in the city, and so every time I visit it I find another view or vista I hadn’t noticed before. Therefore, I wish to share some of these with you.
This a secluded nook with a fountain, and as you can see it invites you to stop awhile for a moment of quiet contemplation.
Around the corner is the view of a quiet lagoon with a boat at anchor in the middle. This, by the way, is the same lagoon Menendez sailed into in 1565, and so this might have been the view an Indian had of him on that day.
This is the view I have from window. I am intrigued by the palm tree on the hotel property. As you can see the trees on the other side of the road seem full and healthy. However, ours seem to have lost their prawns somehow. If you look at the very top, though, there are new sprouts. growing around stakes driven into the crest. (see next photo)
If you look closely at the middle, you can see the tip of the stake still visible. I don’t know whether this is a sliver of another palm tree (like splicing) or not, but it seems to be growing. Curious.

I wrote a letter to the Orillia Packet and Times, today, complaining about McGuinty’s proposed restricted driver’s licenses for seniors, and in it I threatened to leave Orillia, Ontario and Canada if this legislation is passed. It was not an idle threat. If it is passed in 2012, by the fall of 2013 I will be a non-resident. Oh, and my money too.

Well, until next time
